ABOUT WEIR HOLM MEADOW

Connecting People to the Land
Weir Holm Meadow has hosted events in Skenfrith since the 1800's with bustling fairs of horse racing, local musicians and feasts. In more recent times community football pitch, grazing sheep and cattle.
For the last 15 years we have given the meadow space to breathe, with no intervention from ourselves.

In 2021 we began stewarding the meadow and set up Weir Holm Adventures, a Forest School Inspired Holiday Club for local children.
We now provide craft courses, spoon clubs, volunteer opportunitys and school group visits.

We want to encourage people to connect to the land in a meaningful way, sharing this beautiful space while preserving and promoting a positive habitat for nature.

Providing young people with the freedom to roam
Weir Holm Adventures provides young people with the freedom to roam, explore and experience a wild outdoor setting, with the security of safe boundaries and encouraging, forest school trained instructors.

Through our child led approach we create a sense of community and belonging that children can return to as the seasons change and grow.

Outdoor learning is being increasingly recognised as playing an integral role in holistic child development. With benefits including improved language and communication skills, increased self esteem and confidence, more motivation and more concentration.

Crafting a Sustainable Future
With a love of nature comes a love of nature based crafts. We want to provide a platform for local crafts folk to pass on their skills and make a living.
